Have It Your Way

Open audio
Vocalist's challenge writeup

This track explores the idea that our corporate overlords only see us all as pieces meat. Like livestock. And you know what they do with livestock, dontcha? In simpler terms, what if people were hamburgers, bro?

Producer's challenge writeup

Tanner sampled a beep from his microwave and used it in 3 different ways. First is the synth that first comes in halfway through verse 1, which is a slower version of the famous “McDonalds fry machine sound”. Then its modified again to create the lead synth sound in the choruses. Then he made another sound with it that’s more like an electronic organ that plays in the first half of the 2nd verse.

Lyrics
I came full frozen from the factory
well loved, grass fed until puberty
had a vision since I exit the womb
for me to grow into a product for them all to consume
it doesn't seem to matter that I am the highest of grade
the only thing they seem to care about is have it their way
and then they flatten and then fry me, send me out on a plate
in the end it turns out that they are the one's getting paid
and if we didn't willingly give em meat that they seek
they would be in a ditch in a week cause they weak
the ones monitoring all of the beeps let em speak
cause they do not wanna see all this beef in the street
they could shut it all down
shut it all down
shut it all down

shut it all down
shut it all down
shut it all down

they put us through all of their fryolator bullshit
we could all stop but deep down they know we would never do it
they burn then bag you up
they never get enough
in your fun place you play
well have it your way

needless to say we can thank all the boomers
for helping us in welcoming one billion consumers
so long as they're all divested in their futures
ignore all our illness, diseases, and tumors
ignore all the rumors of the mystery meat
they have no problem sacrificing us, they see us as cheap
and then they pack us and then store us in sub zero degrees
They cannot risk we go to waste before collecting their fees
but if we came together in collective form
we could rise up and break down and exit the barn
disregard all their panic to sound the alarm
kick they ass out the house, then take over the farm
and then shut it all down
shut it all down
shut it all down

shut it all down
shut it all down
shut it all down

they put us through all of their fryolator bullshit
we could all stop but deep down they know we would never do it
they burn then bag you up
they never get enough
in your fun place you play
well have it your way

Great job keeping vocals high energy while still understandable. Good execution Production is very neat. Overall mix and production wouldn’t sound too out of place on an early Fall Out Boy album. Mix could use a tad more headroom pre-master, and Vox during hook kinda get drowned out, but overall nice effort.

THING ONE is being compared to THING TWO: this song hits that on multiple points. Well done. Human Member of Capitalism = Beef Cow Capitalism / Society = Factory Farming Rat Race Wage Slavery = Burgers "What if ppl = hamborgers, bro??" that shit cracked me up Really like the prechorus “shut it all down” and huge ahhhhh backing vocals Is that a string instrument in verse 2? Cool choice! I love huge rocky tracks as always, but the chorus feels like it could’ve been hookier. A cheesy pop punk chord progression could serve the song in giving it that cathartic feeling. More teenage angst, Beefy & Tanner! Beefy is a skilled vocalist (obviously) but he only has one dial. Suggest trying a total different dial / register

Beefy sounds great on this. I love the way your ad libs fill *just* the right amount of space to keep the listening brain engaged during the instrumental interludes. BGVs sound great. I love the themes. Very appropriate to make a working class anthem themed around a very visible service position. They really do hate that they have to pay us anything... Overall this mix sounds fantastic. The instrumentation is great and the drum parts feel really alive. The drum compression is *chef's kiss*. I like the microwave beep fry sounds, organ, and synth. On theme, great meta play. Knowing your abilities, I feel like you could have gone harder on the production challenge, but this is still a very solid showing! I caught myself singing along several times.

    ● Using a metaphor as people being considered livestock in society mixed with how the world is a mass production machine is a very nice concept. This fast pace gives me an early 2000s punk rock feel that I haven’t heard in a while. The mix was great, lyrics and well thought out and put together in the order of events. This song already matches the name of your group because it definitely shows blunt force! ● Production- love the use of microwaves and grill noise to further “cook” the tracks with “beefy” “see what I did there?” lol! All and all, very well produced and great work!

An unexpected entry in such a good way. My roots are in emo, punk, and metal, so I'm ready to GO with this one! Immediately makes me want to stand up, throw down, and fight in your corner against the bs. We are not products, but I would consume this all day. Wanted to give you all 6's for the bit but you deserved more! \m/
