Sokoban Sadness is a reflection on the challenges of existing, the bizarre hurdles along the way, the perfect plans that fail, and the people who prey on the desperate. This is all done through the lens of 1987 MS-DOS game Nethack. "On your way to the Oracle, you better make sure your wallet's full." Death or a promised ascension: These are your only ways out of the Mazes of Menace.

This challenge was a really fun one. I was struggling with what to sample for the challenge and then my washing machine finished. It plays a little jingle whenever it's done. I immediately recorded the jingle and decided to pass it through Serum 2 and make an instrument for it. It is featured on the choruses and in the outro towards the back end. For the rest of the beat, I decided to go for something a little slower to challenge myself, as I normally go for a higher BPM, but I think I found a nice flow for everything with this track. As a pretty new producer, I really enjoy the challenges presented with working directly with a vocalist for this as that isn't something I've really done at this point. Looking forward to seeing how the results play out with this one.
