Vocalist's challenge writeup

based on multiple quotes and messages from Dungeon Crawler Carl. notable quotes: "If it used to be okay, but it’s not okay anymore, maybe you should do something about it. Don’t compare your circumstances with how they were yesterday. Look at how they were years ago. We’re supposed to be making the world... the universe... a better place for our children. If it’s not better, if you’re dealing with cruelty, with neglect, then you should do something about it. So, yeah. Fuck 'em. Fuck King Borant and his asshole child. If you’re unhappy with your government, then kick them out and set up your own. One that represents the people’s best interests. You shouldn’t have to put up with some loser who's going to take the people’s money and waste it on games. Especially when those games entail killing people weaker than him with little or no real danger to himself." "You wanted a slaughter? Don't worry. It's coming. ... You may have destroyed our homes, but guess what. We have just taken any sense of peace you will ever have in your own home. There will be no prisoners. There will be no quarter. ... We are coming. There is nowhere for you to hide. It is going to be a bloodbath the likes of which has never been seen." read the series for more information if needed.

If it's not better
If you're dealing with cruelty
with neglect
then you should do something about it
so yeah
fuck em

Why get down you could get even/
they was laughing at your pain then kick their teeth in/
Don’t let em drown you out when you was speaking/
you finally found something to believe in
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/

They’ll step on your neck
If you give them a second i bet
They think they holding the deck
So why would they give you respect
Fuck what what you needed
they Worried on what they collect
They acting like demons
So really what did you expect

Ain’t no point in getting angry at no one but yourself/
No one got no time for saving no one you best tighten up your belt/ and go get even

Why sit on your hands if they spit your face
I’m throwing them shits
They give you some grace if you stay in your place when you know that it’s tricks
If you wait for a nice day and wait for the right way quick taking the high road start taking the highway put a hole in their shit/

Give out that mercy that they gave you
Give out that pain the way that they do
Bring out that monster that they made you
Wring out blood for times that they betrayed you

Why get down you could get even/
they was laughing at your pain then kick their teeth in/
Don’t let em drown you out when you was speaking/
you finally found something to believe in
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/

ANY of you
the right to even think you can do anything about your situation?
FUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOUUUUUUUU

I don’t know about you
But i won’t let nobody use me as a ladder
And i know you been goin through it
But kindness doesn’t matter they don’t care about your gratitude
Why give back something you never had?
Twist the dagger start ignoring every platitude
Why give back something you never had?
They would leave you shattered so you better fix your attitude

Why get down you could get even/
they was laughing at your pain then kick their teeth in/
Don’t let em drown you out when you was speaking/
you finally found something to believe in
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/
Why get down you could get even/

When I'm in a petty mode, I'm going to use this as a soundtrack. The beat drops and goes in immediately. Love the piano throughout and the breakdowns. And the lyrics say it all. Don't get down in the dumps. Drag them into to the mud with you. I don't have many notes for this one- I think this is just shy of a perfect track for me. Keep the momentum going!

Love the groove of this track. way to take advantage as a vocalist with sing rap style. Great effects on vocals. Good way to use the metaphor of rising up when you're down and choosing to get your revenge in the end. Very melodic and it wasn't too much which is very easy to do in songs. enjoyed very much. Production was dope, great manipulation of the bass sample, Made the track very Dynamic.

Banger! Production was very solid, vocal mix/effects were executed very well. Beat slaps, and I appreciate how the drums were mixed, everything sits in the appropriate pocket. Songwriting was on point, that hook was such an ear worm. The melodic vocal portion were sublime! Overall, the song probably could have ended 30 seconds sooner than it did.

Ooh, I dig the doubled pitched down vocal and how you automate it in and out thought out track. Great way to add a layer of dynamics that you can really get experimental with. I love shit like this. The samples you picked go really well together, they really compliment your beat. I would have loved to hear more sample presence in the main groove of the beat, rather than mostly occasional one hits, but that's mostly because you've set a high standard for yourself, and I know you can really bring it. aDn to be fair, you did. This is a great vocal performance. An all-time Lex, for sure. This hook is great. Hella catchy. I wish I knew Dungeon Crawler Carl so I could appreciate the references more, but this series looks sick. Well done.

    CHALLENGE 10

This is great and piqued my interest about the series! Props on choosing literature as your reference point. It's also a great standalone song that doesn't require the reference knowledge to be enjoyed, but adds an extra layer if you do know. Both sides of the challenges were met, and IMO at a high level. Lex Lingo: You're not just a great writer, but you also sing with emotion. That's not easy to pull off when the vocals are highly processed but you succeed at it. You make us feel the words. Your vocals are always very passionate and that works great here. I'd like to hear a different side sometime. See if you can transpose that passion to a different dial or nature. Shawn Solo: Great as always. I love how the sample at 0:17 that recurs throughout functions in the song. I just don't feel like you're pushing yourself or trying new things. Yes it works and there's nothing to "fix", but I believe Shawn Solo beats can be more than that classic sound. This beat was a bit spare and less captivating to me than your last round.
