Lyrics
[VERSE 1]
Some think I'm crazy, that my brain cells are looser
But truthfully I'm just a clone of myself from the future
I've seen enough to know the cookie will crumble
And when the war hits your front door, I'll be here to debunk a couple

Computers have already beaten the communists at chess
Pretty soon they'll be beatin' humans, they're obviously vexxed
Fidel Castrol stole my lawnmower to make a submarine to egress
One by one your friends will be desert you and, yes, I'll be next

Peanuts are emitting toxins as evolutionary defense
They're tired of being eaten, it's a revolutionarily direct
2 for one pizza coupons are there to fatten you up
Then Red Cross removes your entrails to put on another one

Tell me! Is there any proof that Hawaii exists?
Don't read your encyclopedia, it'll deny the keen witted
I'm unsociable, unsmokable, truthful in the quotables
I am most definitely not crazy, dear listener, I am unknowable

I'm Rusty Shackleford

[HOOK]
I could show you how to make a bomb out of a roll of toilet paper and a stick of dynamite
That shit sound kinda nice

[VERSE 2]
I love my son Joseph, but I wonder how he got so athletic
We don't look alike, sound alike, nor do we have the same interests
Discovery Channel told me it takes 9 months to develop babies
9 months before his birth, shoot, I wasn't with my lady

I was 500 miles away studying alien abductions
The misses had a headache keeping her far from the function
I told my buddy john to keep watch over Nancy in my absence
Take good care of her should anything ever happen

To the strapping young shackleford, alias for my namesake
Stalking space travelers traveling through the spaceways
I'm telling you, these aliens knew that I was getting close to the truth
(Whatever that means) Honestly, I wouldn't know it, but look

They probably got my wife pregnant with their souped up space juice
To keep surveilance on me, to distant from the breakthrough
No other options could be my son's real father
But either or, whatever, I love my son regardless
I'm Rusty Shackleford

[VERSE 3]
Someone knocked at my door today and I think I saw a ghost
Claiming to be Rusty Shackleford, my jaw dropped at the quote
He was claiming he knew i was Dale and that i stole
His first name
(And surname) Smoking the same cigarette brand since third grade

I replied "this couldn't be, he died when he about eight"
His retort, that's falsehood, his family had simply moved away
Identity theft was the crime and that I'm ruining his life
Matter of fact (he's correct!) but I'm not doing time

"We need to settle this right now Gribble" he says reaching in his pocket
What is that, a gun? Die like a man, or take me hostage
He pulls out papers "just sign these so I can move on with my life
Sigh........ (you're lucky I'm out of pocket sand) Fine

John Hancock delivered, better than Russian Roulette fam
You get off my property whoever i am
I'm not Rusty Shackleford

I like that this is a specific franchise reference / character song and literally namedrops the character, BUT it is also not SO specific that it couldn't be interpreted more generally by an outsider. Imp: You are a great writer, going from the most mundane occurrence and raising the ridiculousness of the delusions (like with the baby story). At the same time you succeed in showing the surreal conditions in his mind and how it functions. Navi: There are lots of samples used in this and somehow it all sounds cohesive still. This is a great example of a "dirty" / "rough" track that still sounds like it was not mixed as an afterthought. I like that the beat changes up to reflect the various stages of Rusty's delusions and his emotional state.

Never thought to get a dale gribble inspired song in the submissions, Pocket sand! ha-ha. This track was really cool and had a really experimental trippy vibe throughout that truly gave an ambience of what it may be like in gribble's head. Solid lyric and production throughout and fun to listen to.

Damn y'all. I wasn't prepared for the pocket sand reference. Definitely wasn't prepared for the concept of a Dale Gribble rap in general, and I think part of me yearned for even a second or two of hearing his voice somewhere in the track. Sh-sh-sha! I like the intensity and depth in your tracks so far, and while this one is certainly surface-level at first, does a good job at showing what a conspiracy theory, paranoia-laced take can do to your mental health.

Beat has a lush baseline that I really appreciate. Hook is really good, great job on both delivery and the vocal effects used. The beat switches here crazy. Raps here are solid, maybe a few spots where maybe the cadence could use a bit of breathing room, but not much to criticize here.

We needed a Gribble Anthem for some time now. This is a public service and I thank you for making it hard as fuck. The Gribble mind is a perfect platform for dropping references and world building at the same time. Some of the rhymes feel like near misses, but only at points. I LOVE the sample work. From the bins and the vocal chops. I love when Navi does that “sample roulette” style chop into a concocted groove that you never knew could come from the source material.
