Vocalist's challenge writeup

(The vocalist portrays a message of self love and "don't fuck with my dawgs" throughout the song that he believes would resonate with Mr. Reeves on a spiritual level)

Lyrics
I'm messy
 Sloppy
Ridin in a jalopi

I'm messy
 sloppy
Ridin in a jalopi
Don't be fuckin w my dogs are else the bodies gon'be dropping

(The vocalist introduces the hook, highlighting his adherent "messiness" and dropping a subtle hint that if you disrupt or harm "his dog's" there may be consequence of death (John Wick 1 -2014, sequels to this film were more heavily focused on surviving assassination but it could be argued that all 4 have thus far been set into motion from the original beagle losing its life at the hands of John Wick's assailants in the original film)

What's popping?
 What's happening?
I'm trapping like them crab men(reference to crab traps, "Finestkind" 2023 although Reeves was a scalloper and not a crab fisherman in the series our boy was still out there getting salty)

I'm rapping like I have a bomb strapped to my abdomen
And if this track goes over 80 beats per minute
I'm killing this song, and everybody in it (Speed 1994, reference to the scenario in the film where if the bus goes over a certain speed, the bus would explode, assumably killing everyone)

I'm just kidding
I'm just messing
Been too busy counting blessings
(While Keanu Reeves does not have a formal, public social media presence to broadcast his daily thoughts, he frequently shares profound, viral reflections on gratitude, resilience, and appreciating life's simple blessings.
His overarching message emphasizes that survival, healing, and recognizing the value of the present day are things to be constantly thankful for.)

I've been busting out the abacus cuz I can't count on heaven

Me and Taco Bill and Ted, we on this excellent adventure (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 1989)
So fuck that bogus journey shit (Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey 1991)
We hit death with that finisher that signature fatality, babality, that friendship
Death is now the homie that's immortal kombat kinship (reference to beating Death at a video game and befriending the entity....similar to Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey 1991 )

Oh yeah!
It's the Kool-aid™ man
I'm breaking down your walls like you know only Kool-aid™ can
And I dont really know if all of yall are Kool-Aid™ fans
Shit I'm just tryna get a sponsorship from Kool-Aid™'s brand.
(Kool-Aid™ references...vocalist highlights how the Kool-aid™ man breaks down barriers while expressing their desire to be funded by the Kool-aid™ brand)

Oh yeah!
We keep that Macho Man swagger
And we savages
(vocalist references the "oh yeah" phrase used by both the Kool-aid man as well as the Macho Man Randy Savage)

The Point out here's to Break the laws of averages (Point Break (1991), loose one further highlighted by vocalist's inflection)
Got them popeye mechanics
Instead of spinach I use cannabis
(vocalist references the mechanics popeye uses for super strength but replaces Popeye's spinach with the Cannabis plant to access his own heightened physical state)

It helps me dodge the bullets from these Red pilled Fan-a-tics (The Matrix (1999) reference to the famous bullet dodging scene in the film "The Matrix" with a slight double tap highlighting the Red/Blue pill scene from the same picture)

Fuck...
I mean fanatics
I'm keepin the skeletons up in the closet
keep the demons in the attic
Got some water at my feet
and I've been staring at my cat (Constantine (2005) reference to how the main character in the film constantine would access the realm of Hell to consort with demons)
Me and Taco been to hell and Beck
Still don't know where its at?
(Vocalist references the band Beck's 1996 hit single "Where it's at" while tying the phrase into the common idiom "going to hell and back", then references the journey he and his producer have experienced not unlike "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" 1991)

And playing Devils advocate can take alot of patience (The Devil's Advocate 1997)
You take us out the game and who the fuck are the replacements? (The Replacements 2000)
Just face it, there are no Replicas (Replicas 2018)
And that's the whole truth (The Whole Truth 2016)
These fakers bout as useless as a Dracula with no toofs (Dracula 1992)
I'm so loose
Messi
I aint talking soccer (Keanu Reeves has never portrayed a soccer player in any of his films)
I like sloppy Joe's and sloppy top
and popping off on knock knockers (Knock Knock 2015)
Círoc vodka (Círoc Vodka powered the 2013 LA premiere of the Keanu Reeve's film "Generation Um")

A Neon Demon Street King (Neon Demons 2016, Street Kings 2008)
Mix it with the Kool-aid™
Through a scanner darkly, see things (Through a Scanner Darkly 2006)

And then the earth stood still
Must've been a bad batch
 somethings got to give
×2
(The day the Earth Stood Still 2008, The Bad Batch 2016, Something's Got to Give 2003)

Messy Sloppy ridin in a jalopi
Lovin myself aint nobody gonna stop me
Messy Sloppy ridin in a jalopi
Don't be fuckin w my dogs are else the bodies gon'be dropping

(The vocalist portrays a message of self love and "don't fuck with my dawgs" throughout the song that he believes would resonate with Mr. Reeves on a spiritual level)

Wow. So good. This track, like the last Southern Demon Nerd track, is such a vibe. Smokee B: I love your writing. It's really smart. I love your delivery even more. You ride a slow beat like a mf. Somehow you make a wholesome message sound aggressive AF and it works. You don't just name the Keanu movies, you incorporate them, and the goings-on of the movies, into the overall message and the double meanings of each bar. It's clear you understand the Keanu ethos. Don't hurt my dawgs. Taco Supreme: For a slow boombap beat you keep it quite interesting, with many different dynamic and mood shifts, and tone-setting arrangement choices. Some of the samples seem a bit forced (like the steel pan samples) and they stick out. Challenge - taking a few points off because I think I would've liked to see the exact timestamps of the samples, as well as hear them being incorporated more seamlessly. But overall fantastic job.

Hard Body! mean lyrics, great production. Vocalist has a lot of personality delivering these verses which really drives the track to the next level. Production has a great Grizelda/alchemist vibe that just drags you into the song more as it continues. Well mixed. Be careful of heavy reverbs. other than that fire!!!

This song is dripping with vibe and swagger--both the beat and the vocals. The references are woven as tightly as the samples. No notes. This song absolutely fucks. Gives us more of this please.

Must be Keanu's biggest fan the way you wrote a love letter like Stan! (bars) Kidding. I thought the references across the board were solid and consistent, and the beat bangs hard to go with it. And agreed, don't fuck with my dogs or my dawgs. Cherry Berry is the best Kool Aid flavor and I stand by that. Stir up a batch and parch your thirst, then come back with more for me next round!

Griselda mixed with DJ screw vibes. Production is dope on this. Love the stutters, chops, and other intricacies you put into this. Vocals have confidence and the flow is on point. That Dracula with no tooths line got a laugh out of me. Great work.
