ANGRYHERO

Open audio
Vocalist's challenge writeup

ANGRYHERO came out first as a couple of sketches. literal pen and ink. After the round was announced I started peaking at my favorite wrestling promos and entrances. For our HERO I wanted to set him in our reality. A being who has traveled from galaxy to galaxy and universe to universe. Back and forth. To try and right things on the timeline. He is ageless but presents as a man in his mid 30s. His eyes changes colors but currently adopt a purple and white iris obtained when he traveled to this world for this competition. After The End of Days ANGRYHERO developed a pocket vortex on his chest that he calls 'Void' He uses that strange ability to move about the world. He fights an endless war of challengers who underestimate him at every turn. Only to find out later... he's been here before so he knows how this will end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I came up with several vibes that I sent to Crow for inspiration and off of that I designed a move set: Void Slam Dust Suplex Rare Slide Void Punch Void Slam Hero Choke ANGRYBOMB a costume, a logo, and a couple other fun things. I really took this round to heart bc tho I'm not a big wrestling fan anymore, I grew up on it and references to it as a whole are peppered throughout my discography. I wanted to flesh out the character we've been writing about during the duration of this competition and build their personal canvas. After Crow sent me the sample of JEJ reciting the alphabet everything else literally felt like it fell into place. Can't believe he got him do that for us before his passing. links to sketches : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1493288636463185922/1520689394065866822/20260628_031325.jpg?ex=6a421bdc&is=6a40ca5c&hm=096683ab0b0a10ec1ea2316732c7c45739ad5a71951107ce74fa503b908bbcf2& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1493288636463185922/1520689394712055828/20260628_031248.jpg?ex=6a421bdc&is=6a40ca5c&hm=623a4719e8b91fe30129f79e1517bc88e8e967d1381229a1ed49a305d05c3421& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1493288636463185922/1520689395391266826/20260628_031229.jpg?ex=6a421bdc&is=6a40ca5c&hm=4a3ff5580af657563b9f9292a5e1bf5f058c96897b09d0d8423935232dab584e& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1493288636463185922/1520689395945050265/20260628_031221.jpg?ex=6a421bdd&is=6a40ca5d&hm=f4e7fc02d63c099712209501d4f72e389be024a937993262ec100d753f2f4e98&

Producer's challenge writeup

Over the last four rounds ( including 0 ) we’ve been building up a version of our hybrid character. The intergalactic shaman AngryHero ( opposed to the force ArtCrow ). We actually had a lot of dialogue because I wasn’t as knowledgable with wrestling as ACH. Some other parts started to come together when looking for similar characters in media. Sun Ra, Booker T, just powerful and wise elements. Mixed well with a sample source that I had stashed a while ago ( Frank Comstock - Music from Space? ) and the general groove came from tunes we could relate to. Particularly some songs produced by EL-P across the ages. Trying to move our own sound up the timeline a little bit to match and break from purely 90s sensibilities as is often my want. I think also making a James Earl Jones speak and spell type instrument in Ableton from an instagram clip was a good starting point that informed a lot of the structure of the song. Just showing super powers and kinda writing against the concept of our hero really falling from grace, more like shifting to another dimension when the work in this one is done. The longer arc of our works definitely crystalizes into a different approach and gives me a hint at some cool things to aim for next round ( challenge willing ). Good times, definitely did not have the same ‘free time’ to make this happen as in earlier rounds. I think we didn’t really have much until about a week prior to submission. But we did have a lot of exchanges and tons of great material on the cutting room floor. It’s actually been nice getting ACH more involved with some of the final steps. Getting closer to a sound. Since the main reason we’re here is to have an excuse to make more music together.. that’s the win ( and the friends we make along the way )

Lyrics
(A)
Angry
honestly all of my competition
should thank me
judges should thank me
thinking
about etching my plans
like Metatron
idiot god verses
so many hearses
so many lost souls
crying at the thought
of the antichrist
and me
holding down a verzuz
curses
im going Damballa with it
onslaught all my listeners
The Last Born Saga

(N)
New world order
we were at the End Days
so much slaughter
watching from the rafters
seeing our attackers
going for the sting
so The Crow
might
cure the burn
a little while after
can't stay here
gotta blast off
Kakarot
inside a ball traveling to babylon
really what we are on
is so symbiotic in nature
venomous song
the perfect bond

(G)
going to another place
in space
and time
much similar to this
we only get one shot
so we gotta lock in
always
or else
you people wont exist
we are your saviors
and i don't like
tepid behavior
fleet street
close call nigga
might shave you

and im digging graves
cause
i am on my way to
ghost at the cemetary
yo i can't see you

(R)
Raw is war
move backwards
im coming in first
and im leaving with the last word
taxing
so taxing
how i gotta lay the smackdown
with passion like
like i hit rockbottom
here to fix equations
that i can't quite solve yet
dissolving all challenger
bodies in solvent
if we don't save your world
who you think gonna solve it?

huh?

uh?

(Y)
You?
you can't stand on the canvas
and convince me and void
that we aren't in Kansas
any more lessons from us
is postponed til
you brain and your heart
get the shell it deserves

i need your reserves
im leeching your power
its feeding my nerves

uh

skill level
shrapnel your heart
stark
constrast
im ripping
your figure apart

ah

(PART 2)

(H)
Here lies you
i was not through
reaping your soul
now your ego is stew
if lose this battle
the war is not through

if i lose this battle
the war is not through

oh

heavy asylum talk
im writing riddles and jokes
on the wall
where your body is
i am embodying
laying my eyes in the scope
like a lobbyist
slugs tucked

(E)
Everyone everywhere listen
my time is a factor
that has no known measurement
i will return
when the serpent rears head again
we will return
like paul bearer signaled it

heh

Everyone everywhere see me
my image is known
like guns on the tv
my image is known
like the women that im seeing
my image is cloned
now im rex when you see me like

(R)
Really I
come to the close of this tale
like a story
ive written forever

surely a challenger
such as yourself
gets a handle
on angles im angling

curtly

bow to the audience
curtsy
none of you opps
can hurt me
your specials aren't working

im on a journey
around infinity
and no other mortal
can finish me`

(O)
odds are
our opus
might outrage
our other opponents
get over it

I love the dreamy vibe that slipped in and out of dissonance. That saw bass is nasty too. The production work really offers a lot of worldbuilding to the vocalists story--it serves the track really well. I love the narrative the beat tells, how it unfolds throughout the track. But it doesn't feel like the beat develops at the same transitions where the vocals develop, that could have been a cool extra layer of depth to weave the beat and vocals together even more than are. The promo feels super realistic--that would go so hard at an event. The vocals are really solid. I love the way you fold in the promo samples to inform your opening bar of each section. I almost makes me wish you had gone WAY harder on a non-exactly-the-same but Alphabet Aerobics level vibe of incorporate the sound of each letter into the lyrics of each section. As it is, still dope as fuck. But they drama of each letter being announced with the sample almost sets it up to be even doper than the already dope idea you executed. Still, super high marks. This is a delight to listen to. Those low growly synth/horn BRAMS drenched in reverb are gross and I love them.

Great Energy from both the producer and vocalist. Really enjoyed Like the alliteration with the verse starts. Production was clean, solid and very consistent. For not having a lot of knowledge about wrestling and creating a persona from it is exactly what's its all about and it nails the challenge! there were just a few mixing slip ups with the vocals clashing a little with the adlibs but other than that great work!

Was digging the bars and the beat here, it's a track I can see myself coming back to. I would have liked to hear more about the actual character development. It seems like from your notes you thought about it a lot but I was missing some of the essence of their story laid out plainly in the track.

Entrance felt grand and mysterious. Beat is delightfully jazzy while maintaining the sci-fi ish vibes of the intro. The scheme of spelling out angry hero throughout the song was well executed. Love the effects on the adlibs, though volume-wise they could be a tad lower. In the part where your voice gets nonchalant, I like the vocal tone, but could use a bit more varied inflection at parts to break it up a bit.

Solid work. Really liked the notes you provided too. Production really shone this time around. I like that the "AngryHero" motif is the "theme" being incorporated into the beat. Fun writing constraint for the vocalist. I think the rise and fall narrative could be a little clearer in the lyrics, but at least I know what you're trying to go for and it's a cool idea.
