Vocalist's challenge writeup

For this, the third challengenof the round, I decided to tell of the rise, the rule and the fall of King Arthur Pendragon from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In some ways, I wanted this to be wrestling adjacent with some subtle nods but I also wanted to stay true to the story and highlight the ridiculousness of authoritarianism. Enjoy!

Producer's challenge writeup

Created 30 second entrance theme, then used samples from the theme in the song submission. The sample is very identifiable and makes up about 60% of the song.

Lyrics
Met a lady of the lake
Today must have been fate
The sword Excalibur
was fully displayed
She gave me a crown
And A King I was made
Definition of brave
I never run away
Riding steeds powered by coconuts
Hear us coming people know it's us
Recruiting members for my new faction
Knights at my command who love the action
Cats who killing everybody in a castle
quest for the Grail we hold up the mantle
facing grave danger day to day
In caves Throwin holy hand grenades
Safe to say you better stay away
Love the confrontation and we came to slay
Reppin banners of both God and grace
King Arthur Pendragon remember the name

Gotta kneel before the king x3
All hail to the king baby

You don't wanna see the ring with me
Turn a black knight into an amputee
Hit the Camelot clutch
Then it's one two three
Round table crew bad company
Up in your face and start screaming ni
Defeating foes quite cunningly
Piledriver into a shrubbery
All the titles are ours for the plundering
On a mission can't stop till it's finished
Years on the road crew is diminished
Ate our minstrels to much rejoicing
Defeat foul beasts teeth sharp and pointy
voice from the heavens that's thundering
Hail to the king you're all underlings
peasants mine to control there's no muttering
Thoughts of descent or revolt that you're mustering

Gotta kneel before the king x3
All hail to the king baby

Ain't no anarcho communism
Or democracy underneath a king
Authoritarian regimes
Control the social standings
Of the community
They said we didn't vote for you
Can't be king
Cause a lady threw a sword at you
Need a better plan for the populace
Than chasing chalises
And building monuments
My vassels have complaints and they list'um
Like Violence inherent in the system
They'll no longer stand our repression
The look in their eyes is mad aggressive
Responded kneel before your king
But instead they're arresting me
This is nothing like my godly vision
Spend the rest of my life locked up in prison

Gotta kneel before the king x3
All hail to the king baby

This beat has a great groove, love the vibe. Remind me of late 90s sample-based pop. An is riding this pocket REAL nice. Good energy match between beat and vocals. I really appreciate all the switch ups in the beat and how you let the vocal really guide your production. This is a great lesson in taking the various layers of a beat and weaving them together in a way that build real dynamics and transitions and narrative. Solid lyrics.

Entrance reminds me of when Strangé pulled up to the function in the movie Boomerang lol. Very gladiatorial, blessed be the gods of war. Beat stays interesting, love the melodic switch-ups. Choir sample could be turned down a tad. Love the rhyme schemes throughout here. The flow falls off beat at places in a way that sits somewhere between “this sounds slick and intentional and “another take could tighten this up a bit”, but otherwise very solid. All hail to the king baby.

Great energy to start the track with an upbeat drum break and horns to match the royalty sound. Enjoyed the vocalist energy provided with lots of King Arthur and the round table references connected to wrestling like the "ready to rumble movie" Fun track. There's a part of the song with the vocalist comes just a tad off beat, but only for a small portion of the second verse. Clear vocals and production was solid overall.

Challenge met. That was a fun idea to interpret this character as a wrestler. Overall solid, though not exceptional, job by both the vocalist and producer. I liked the production switchup for the hook but didn't find the vocal hook very compelling.

    CHALLENGE 7

I actually really liked this track a lot; big fan of Monty Python and I think the track works towards the challenge, but I can't give full marks because while creative, doesn't quite line up with the actual wrestling persona that was to be created. That said, the story is obviously there from start to finish, loved the references, and overall the track was successful.
