Izaeyah

Open audio
Vocalist's challenge writeup

This song is about Izaeyah, Swagswitcha legitimate, yet to debut, wrestling persona for Volt Tackle Championship Wrestling in Orlando. The song tells the story of his rise and fall, and contemplation at the end of the song regarding whether it even matters whether he lives or dies, because you can't truly defeat the concept of chaos.

Producer's challenge writeup

The intro of the theme that was submitted was the first part that was made for this song, and I wanted to imagine the theme for this wrestler would be when it hit during the royal rumble. Wanted to make it immediately memorable with the added yelling of "CHAOS" in the full song.

Lyrics
(CHAOS!) (REMAKE US) X2

Bent on destruction , Carnage, I’m Cletus

Monster of Havoc bearing no weakness .

Anarchy demon brought from the Séance

I am Izaeyah, Advocate of Chaos

 (CHAOS! REMAKE US! X2)

I bent the knee to Anarchy,

Now it's time to Scorch the Earth and do it promptly

Became a being that nobody is stopping

If victory is mine, I’m desecrating the bodies

Line them up, they're dropping at a high speed

Take whatever I see, lettin chaos guide me

The top spot is no longer what I need

I just want to sow the seeds of tyranny

They robbed me of all my fame and glory

The spotlight adored me, it was only for we

You're gonna beg and wish you had the old me

You can’t break me further then what you now see

And now I hold the throne hostage

The world is mine, I run it how I see fit.

Excruciation now my only language

Currency is pain and I'm filty motherfuckin' rich.

Bent on destruction, Carnage, I’m Cletus

Monster of Havoc bearing no weakness .

Anarchy demon brought from the Séance

I am Izaeyah, Advocate of Chaos x2

(CHAOS! REMAKE US!) X2

When I fall, will I rise, or when I fall, will I die?

This is a pretty pitch perfect Nu Metal throwback vibe. It's giving Powerman5000 and POD, but in a good way lol. The melodic vocal could be cleaned up a lot in the performance and in post. I would pull back from the mic to reduce the proximity effect that's causing the boomy low mids in that take. I would also rehearse that part until you're sick of it! It comes through that this is a new melody for the singer, but with rehearsal, it would come across a lot more confidently and cleanly. Reducing a 300-500hz bump with an EQ could help reduce some of the proximity effect in the mix.

If Vin Diesel was a wrestler, this entrance theme would be what I imagine him walking out to. Production and Vox give me Linkin Park vibes, I like that. I appreciate the vocalist’s range here re: tone and energy. “When I fall, will I rise” part goes on a bit too long IMO. My ears were expecting something after that part, a circle back to the hook and riding out on that would have been dope!

This was super super dope. The production was PERFECT for an intro theme and a wrestler theme. I took points off because the rise and fall narrative is not super present and could've been much clearer and fleshed out. I also wanted to know who Izeayah was as a fleshed-out character, a personality, and feel like I got only a surface-level idea of what he was about. SwagSwitcha has great delivery but fell just short of his usual tight flow imo. The scream vox were cool tho!!!

First big note is there's about a minute or more of silence after the song ends, pretty sure this is unintentional? This song definitely evokes heel type soundtrack from the 90s-00s era of music. I could see this being a Chris Jericho type situation where he also plays in a band and features this song on their setlist I would like to have seen a more direct story to follow in the message of the lyrics, and I think despite the added silence at the end of the track there are some opportunities to improve the delivery of the lyrics themselves.
