Get Down

Open audio
Vocalist's challenge writeup

R4 Club Track: The vocalist leans in to the dance action and intoxicating atmosphere of the night club, asking the listener if they can Get Down with the Get Down? This is a fairly common club trope, albeit somewhat dated, which normally refers to dancing but it could also be perceived as if the vocalist is questioning if the listener has the stamina to not only dance but keep up the vibe while consuming alcohol and other mind altering substances. The vocalist then moves on to all the different ways the club has people moving their bodies and "The Supremix" in particular highlights how interchangeable the subjects and predicates of those imperative sentences are. Ie: clap your hands, stomp your feet, twerk your ass, work your cheeks, clap your ass, work your feet, twerk your cheeks, work your ass, etc... And then the Drugs hit- you know that feeling... took some shit up in the club and the liquor and the molly or whatever else hits at the same time. The vocalist wanted to leave the experience open ended so that it could relate to a more expansive array of individual experiences. Any body who has messed around with this type stuff knows that it can go alot of different ways. Push it to the limit- the vocalist does a Scarface bit with the song title and admires a lady's dance moves that she knows so well she doesnt even have to practice. The vocalist then pivots from "down pat" to patty cake and boasts a bit on his culinary abilities which is more of a metaphor on how the southern demon nerds are always cooking up some hijinx and shaking things up....like the pan. Look at that rump shake- The vocalist just leans into more dancing stuff. They obviously have an appreciation for butts and relates them to different foods and other fun stuff. So many beautiful booties up in the club right now- more butter stuff. vocalist and producer love butts a lot And her sweat tastes like Kool-aid™- You already know the demon nerds are gonna land that Kool-aid™ deal before this is all over with. The vocalist asks the audience if they're feeling it. This can refer to alot of things drugs, the vibe, the music. The vocalist is definitely feeling it tho and doesn't seem to consider any negative opinions in this context. We just wanna dance. 🕺 𝘉𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤: the original track name was booty sweat vampires but the vocalist saw someone was already doing a Dracula junt so we pivoted to drugs and sweat heavier dance vibes.

This is definitely a club banger, but I think it's much rougher around the edges than the SDN I've come to know. Taco told the story about his logistical challenges and work conflicts. The difference shows - especially the thing about the mismatched bpm and the fact that he didn't headphone check the mix. All that said, a Southern Demon Nerd that's slightly out of sorts is still better than the average team. It's just too bad that this happens to be the round everyone went into overdrive and blew the average out of the water. Really solid performance from both, resulting in a fun bouncy dance track, but the chorus/singing felt weaker and didn't grab me like the SDN hooks I'm used to (spoiled by?)

Definitely has that old school west coast 90's 00's energy in this track! Very Dope! Wish the vocals were a little more prominent throughout the song overall. Only production was great. sound sounds didn't appear as polish as it could be at times but overall nailed the challenge

Okay this is 100% a club banger. I love all the switch ups and crowd chants, the repetitive sections to get folks to start singing along, right into some flex bars to knock them of their balance. Focusing on encouraging the crowd to dance is a great approach, one I expect we might see a few more times this round. This beat is well-considered down to the second. Every decision feel thought out and cultivated into the best moment it can be. This shit will DESTROY live and anybody who knows anything can tell. Tens all around.

Let's start with the positive side- This song definitely puts me in the club! I can see myself getting down with the get down while this theme song plays in the backgound. It also covers the full spectrum, including the bad ride part of club culture from a substance gone wrong, or one too many shots. I thought the song nailed the messaging, but found the beat to be droning and at other times shrill, both a perfect execution of a bad trip, but also provided a vibe I would typically avoid for that exact reason

This beat go crazy. This is one of those tracks that gives people a second wind in the club. Those 808s are mixed well, and the vocals don’t get muddied in the low end of the track. Vocal performance is great. There’s maybe one part where I feel the flow gets a bit too abstract for a club track, but otherwise this bangs. Ass is definitely getting thrown to this song.
