Vocalist's challenge writeup

Vocalist Challenge: Vocalists must engage in verbal handoffs for a minimum of 50% of the song Notes: Check the lyrics! All verses are split 50/50 with a bunch of lines shared halfway through. Nailed it. The outro has everything overlapping which is also verbal handoffs if you stop to think about it. I see your notes about our Chorus's being too long Lex, so we made the chorus shorter and moved all the excess to the end of the track, you're welcome.

Producer's challenge writeup

Producer Challenge: Incorporate 3 different genre samples into your beat Notes: Okay let's do it! Sample 1: The intro sample of Joey Z is taken from a masterclass in aural pleasure: "Spandex Moose - wHy dOnT yOu cRy aBoUt iT" Genre: Nerdcore Sample 2: 塊オンザロックメインテーマ from the Katamari Damarcy soundtrack Genre: ...someone on the discord said Katamari Damacy is its own genre Sample 3: 3PM from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons soundtrack Genre: Chill? Video game OST? Acoustic Jazz and Pop? Sample 4: Stick Man Song Sing-A-Long taken from track 5 of the Stick Man Audiobook (available on Audible or CD) by Julia Donaldson and performed by Imelda Staunton Genre: Childrens Audiobook? It's sorta modern pop I would say. Sample 5: El Sediento by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico Genre: Latin/Salsa? It says La Mejor Salsa del Mundo on the front cover but apparently that means The Best Sauce in the World. Sample 6: Look Up by Sycco (this song only came out like last week, but I heard it on the drive to work and knew I had to use it immediately) Genre: Alt-Pop/Electronica There's also a snippet of NSYNC and the NuMetal drums I took (sorry sampled) from someone's youtube tutorial. That's more than three! This was a mission to get to work together so you better give me higher than a bloody 6/10 this time for production Klopfenpop. I chopped up some of the tracks, adjusted tempos and pitch, added some sick drums all throughout and even finally learnt how to add my own sounds in the right key under the samples. It's a thing of beauty and you know we could've made this way more annoying than what it turned out to be hahaha.

Lyrics
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
INTRODUCING
SPANDEX MOOOOOOSEEE!

All I ever wanted
was for you to like me
and now you do
I don't need you anymore

Hey Mike (sup man), I wanna ask you a q
(Yeah shoot), how come no one seems to fuck with the Moose?
(That’s true) when we should be the top of the ladder
(It doesn’t matter, my guy, cos we’re coming with swagger)

I gather our rhymes hit like a scatter of coriander
(Delicious! And if they don’t like it, they don’t matter)
(They can’t hack it) the way that these rhymes assault
Tasty broth for the earbones (aural gold)

(We’re the greatest, the best band, the sweetest tea)
The taste on your tongue that you didn’t know you need
(The foremost rap duo of the VPC)
(So witness me) witness rhyme history

Sick, wicked, witness the Moose, witness the truth
(Witness the sound of two world class spitters when we’re rocking the booth)
Witness the proof (Harrison Ford, Witness the Pooh)

All I ever wanted
was for you to like me
and now you do
I don't need you anymore

¡Es tanta la sed que tengo!

(Frankito!) Miguel!
two hombres from the Moose Cartel
(I want to ask you a question hermano)
Go ahead, (¿who cares what bastardos

think? we used to rap in sync)
[bye-bye] I missed the way we linked
together and now we got their love
(at what cost? AHHH it's never enough)

why was I trying to impress you
(when I don't even like you?)
now I'm all depressed dude
(ahh! we were such a bright crew)

It's you, it's you, it's always been you
(I'm the Spandex you're the Moose)
You complete me (I'm completely)
sure we're the best band of all time!

All I ever wanted
was for you to like me
and now you do
I don't need you anymore

I never wanted your feedback
I just wanted your praise
I never wanted your criticism
I know I'm an acquired taste

Ok, this is fun. Beat is cheery delightful… would not feel out of place in a Nintendo game, that salsa part SLAPS. The last third of the song makes me feel like we’re saving the world. Maybe the switch between hook and verses could be finessed a bit better, though I understand y’all had to flip 3 different genres.

Y'all have really grown on me throughout this competition and I can officially say I'm down with the moose now. Digging the hand offs in the lyrics, the melody, and the horns throughout the track, especially in the middle! * All teams receive a '10' in their challenge category from me this round. This has to be one of the most randomized challenges and can seem insurmountable with the wrong pairing. As such, I am thoroughly impressed with everyone's ability to rise to the task.

What a collaboration! love the layering of the vocals from twill and spandex moose singing different hook simultaneously. Sounded very cool. Comic relief throughout the song definitely makes it fun! Only thing I would say is at some points the vocals levels from time to time get a little loud during the hooks so checking the levels whenever the instrumental mutes certain instruments in the song so the levels stay consistent. I enjoyed the instrumental. very solid and dynamic. nailed the challenge, good work!

THANK YOU for making that chorus shorter! I feel like it worked perfectly! Twilly's singing sounds excellent on this chorus. I feel like the writing, rapping and vocal tradeoffs were really wonderfully done. You two have great chemistry. I also enjoy the straightforward comedy braggadocio theme of "we're the best, fuck you haters, don't need you." The ending was very Slim Shady - "haha, I'm just kidding America, you know I love you", which I appreciated. I got Shaggy - "Angel" vibes from the chorus and the production - well, at least before it flips into salsa, which got my stank face going! That was an amazing switch up, perfectly executed. I would've given the production a 9 if it weren't for the final third of the song with the many vocal layers, which I felt could've been way cleaner in terms of balance and mixing. As it is, there's a lot of clipping and gets quite busy with the different vocal melodies and rhythms going on. Twilly's harmonies are ON POINT throughout, though! It's been so clear how far Spandex Moose has grown and improved even from the beginning of the comp. You were always one of my underdogs (wonderdogs!) that I knew harbored a lot of potential to create even better bangers. This was by far the best Spandex Moose song in the competition. I think you're both very gifted, always drawing on unique concepts and great execution and I hope to hear more music as well as collaborate with you in the future! GOOD ON YA, MATE!

Y'all sampled your own VPC track. Incredible. I love the way you took a very literal and linear approach to the genre mashing. I don't think anyone's done it that way before, and it feels like a fresh approach. "I'm the spandex, you're the moose!" T_T The hook is funny and the katamari sample only makes it funnier. The vibes are really nicely layered on this as are the layers of sound. The crescendo feels great, the build feels natural, Twilly is fucking wailing by the end there! Twilly harmonies sound awesome. I really like the "You're So Vain" reference. It reminds me of of "Starfuckers Inc." by Nine Inch Nails, which was the first drum break I ever sampled to make my first beat in 6th grade :3
